The Poisonous Garden


This year the Auckland Museum brings you the most poisonous and diabolical plant education and fun! Bring the whole family for hours of fun, entertainment, discovery as we take you on a new adventure!

Activity 1 – Kowhai – learn how to identify and document kowhai. Kids can stamp, colour in and complete a specimen label just like  how it’s done at museum. Kids can take home their work.

Activity 2 – Fox glove – capture the foxgloves beauty through water colour illustrations but be careful not to touch!

Activity 3 – The Deadly nightshade family – cooking role play activity targeted to the younger audience, role play and pretend cooking.

Activity 4 – Taro/ Arum lily – Look under the microscope at our beautiful taro collection. Also dress up in our taro costume!

Activity 5 – Onga onga, Tree nettle – colour in your butterfly and place it on our tree, be careful not to get a spike from the tree nettle needles, in other words can you do it?
